Children from Reception to Year 6 enjoyed participating in our Sport for Champions Afternoon yesterday.
The children were joined by Harry Owen, professional elite gymnast, for the afternoon. Harry became the youngest male gymnast to be selected to represent Wales when he was selected for the senior squad at the age of 12. He has gone on to represent Wales at 3 Commonwealth Games and at the games in Glasgow had the honour of captaining the Welsh national team. Harry is currently competing to represent Team GB at the Summer Olympic Games in Rio next year.
The children took part in a sponsored circuit and worked incredibly hard. They were also treated to a demonstration of gymnastics by Harry. They then were given a presentation by Harry on his journey to achieve his dream of competing in gymnastics at the highest level. Harry talked about the hard work, commitment and dedication he has had to show. He even shared a food diary to demonstrate the benefits of a healthy balanced diet and how he ensures that his body has the required energy to complete a demanding training regime.
A huge thankyou to Harry and his team and a massive well done to all the children who took part.
