PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Emotional)

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health & Emotional Education)

At Penruddock Primary School, PSHE is a central part of our curriculum. We believe it is essential in equipping pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need to make safe, thoughtful and informed decisions in their lives.

Our programme is carefully structured to provide a broad and balanced education that supports children’s personal development and wellbeing. It helps them to build resilience, develop confidence, and become rounded members of both their local and global communities. We encourage pupils to take risks, try new things, and understand that making mistakes is part of learning and growth.

Through PSHE, children learn about relationships, health, safety, and the wider world. They are taught how to manage risk, respect diversity, and develop the skills needed to thrive in modern society. Lessons are engaging, age‑appropriate, and progressive, ensuring that pupils revisit and deepen their understanding as they move through the school.

Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is included within our PSHE curriculum. Relationships education is taught in a sensitive, age‑appropriate way, helping children to understand healthy relationships, respect for others, and the changes they will experience as they grow.
